Campsite Review: Lake Clarendon - Free Campsite

Updated: Apr 11

Lake Clarendon is a beautiful Free Campsite Area only 7 minutes from Gatton. With beautiful views of the lake and situated away from major roads, the serenity and tranquility provides a relaxing place to stay. If you would like a tranquil camping spot for a couple of nights and love beautiful sunsets this site would be perfect for you.

Bottle Tree Lake Clarendon

My Free Campsite Review:

Your First Impressions

The campsite was larger and more picturesque that I thought. The land is fairly flat with a slight decline the closer you get to the naturally filled lake. There are patches grass but also a lot of hard dirt areas that can get dusty in dry weather. The lake looked beautiful. When we arrived there was a few people camping there who had their kayaks out on the water. The lake itself is fenced but there is a gate that will give you access for kayaks etc.

How Have You Tested

I first visited Lake Clarendon when I went out for a drive with my dog Kahra so I could take her for a walk. I was very surprised how beautiful this little spot was. Since then we have visited many times when we wanted somewhere to go that was quiet and relaxing for a few hours. Lake Clarendon is also where I spent the last night when I hired the van last December.

Lake Clarendon to me is one of my 'safe' free camping areas. A place I feel, as a solo female traveller, to be safe to stay overnight or for a couple of days. In a few weeks time I will be picking up my own van and Lake Clarendon will be the first place I will be staying in to test out the Van.

Pros

Cons

Water views Mountain views Bird life Sunsets Tranquilty Away from major roads

Snakes Non potable water No shops nearby

Would I stay there again? YES! I most certainly will.
